The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
southeastern St. Marys County in southern Maryland...

* until 800 am EDT Friday

* at 154 am EDT... Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
multiple rounds of thunderstorms with heavy rain over the area.
The rain will cause flooding. Rainfall amounts between 5 and 7
inches have already fallen in the warned area and an additional 1
to 2 inches of rain are possible in the next couple of hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Piney Point... Dameron... and ridge.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... country roads... farmland... and other low lying
spots.
