Watches & Warnings

Marine Fog Advisory, Gale Warning
Issued: 12:49 PM EST Jan. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory now in effect until 6 PM EST this evening...
... Gale Warning remains in effect from 1 am to 4 PM EST Monday...

* location... the coastal ocean waters of southern New Jersey and
Delaware and Delaware Bay.

* Winds... east 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt.

* Seas... 3 to 5 feet.

* Visibility... 1 nm or less at times tonight through this
afternoon.

* Timing... winds increase Sunday night... and then the strongest
winds are expected on Monday.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
Harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one mile. Inexperienced mariners...
especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid
navigating in these conditions.
