... Freezing Rain Advisory in effect from 4 am to noon EST
Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Freezing
Rain Advisory... which is in effect from 4 am to noon EST Tuesday.

* Locations... the Interstate 81 corridor of central New York and
northeast Pennsylvania, from the Syracuse Metro area, southward
through Cortland and Binghamton, then further southward towards
Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Hazleton, and adjacent portions of the
Pocono plateau.

* Hazard types... freezing rain.

* Ice accumulations... less than 0.1 inches.

* Timing... an area of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle will
overspread the region early Tuesday morning, generally between 4
and 6 am. Temperatures will slowly rise above freezing late
Tuesday morning or during the midday hours, with at least
patches of light freezing rain expected to continue through
about 12 noon, particularly over the higher terrain.

* Impacts... untreated surfaces will become slippery.

* Winds... southeast 5 mph or less.

* Temperatures... in the lower 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
