... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EST
Tuesday...

* locations... central New York and the northern tier of
Pennsylvania.

* Hazard types... heavy wet snow... sleet... freezing rain and
strong winds.

* Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 9
inches... along with up to a few hundredths of an inch of ice
accretion.

* Timing... rain and sleet will move into the area through the late
afternoon into early this evening but but become mixed with or
change to snow by the mid to late evening. A heavy mix of snow
mixed at times with sleet and freezing rain will continue
overnight into Tuesday morning before precipitation diminishes
in the afternoon.


* Impacts... snow and ice accumulations will make many roads
treacherous and impassable. Also, gusty winds added to the
affects of the snow and ice could lead to power outages.

* Winds... northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

* Temperatures... in the low to mid 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means heavy snow and icing is expected or
occurring. Heavy snow with some ice is forecast that will make
travel very dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must
travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle
in case of an emergency.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 18 to 33 knots
and/or waves averaging 4 feet or more are expected to produce
hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced
mariners... especially those operating smaller vessels... should
avoid navigating in these conditions.
