Issued: 3:47 AM EST Jan. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 am this
morning to 7 am EST Wednesday...

* locations... the southern Adirondacks... and the Lake George
Saratoga region.

* Hazard types... freezing rain and sleet... mixing with snow at
times.

* Snow and sleet accumulations... 1 to 4 inches... greatest across
higher elevations of the southern Adirondacks.

* Ice accumulations... up to one tenth of an inch in valleys...
and one tenth to one third of an inch across higher elevations.

* Timing... a light mix of snow... sleet and rain is possible by
late this morning. Steadier precipitation... in the form of
rain... sleet and snow will develop late this afternoon.
Freezing rain... sleet and snow is expected tonight... alternating
between precipitation types. Precipitation will taper off
toward daybreak Wednesday.

* Impacts... ice and snow covered roadways will make for
hazardous travel. Untreated walkways... driveways and sidewalks
will be very slippery. Some isolated to scattered power
outages are possible in areas that receive the most
significant freezing rain.

* Winds... east 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Temperatures... in the lower to middle 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
