The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
northeastern Mercer County in central New Jersey...

* until 1015 PM EDT

* at 621 PM EDT... it was still raining across the warned area.
Creeks are running high, roads have been closed, and water rescues
have been conducted. The Delaware and Raritan canal has left it's
banks and is flooding portions of Princeton, especially near
canal pointe Boulevard. Up to six inches of rain have fallen the
last few hours. The worst flooding has been along the Route one
corridor from Princeton to Plainsboro. This is a dangerous
situation. Do not go around Road barriers. Move to higher ground.

This is a flash flood emergency for Princeton and West Windsor
townships.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Princeton and Princeton Junction.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and life
threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

central Mercer... south Central Somerset and west central Middlesex
counties...

At 539 PM EDT... it was still raining across the warned area, but the
intensity was slowly diminishing. Creeks are running high, roads
have been closed, and water rescues have been conducted. Up to five
inches of rain have fallen the last few hours. The worst flooding
has been along the Route one corridor from Princeton to Plainsboro.
This is a dangerous situation. Do not go around Road barriers. Move
to higher ground if needed.

South Brunswick... Ewing... Princeton... Rocky Hill... Kendall Park...
Plainsboro center... Lawrenceville... Edinburg... Kingston...
Princeton Meadows... Mercerville-Hamilton Square...
Monmouth Junction... Heathcote...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Driving into flood waters could put your life at risk and cost you
thousands of dollars in vehicle repairs. Flood waters may be deeper
that you think. Turn around and find an alternate Route.

of showers and thunderstorms. This will cause poor drainage, low-
lying, urbanized or small stream flooding across portions of the
advised area. Up to two inches of rain can be expected, where the
heaviest rains fall, in about a one hour timeframe.
