The National Weather Service in gray has issued a high surf
advisory... which is in effect from 2 am to 8 PM EDT Thursday.

* Location... ocean beaches of midcoast Maine and outlying
islands.

* Surf height... building to around 5 feet with a long period
swell.

* Timing... from late tonight through Thursday night.

* Impacts... strong rip currents, rough surf, and beach erosion
are likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.
