... Flood Watch in effect from Monday afternoon through Tuesday
morning...

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a

* Flood Watch for eastern Massachusetts except Cape Cod and the
islands as well as Rhode Island except Block Island.

* From Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

* Areas of heavy rainfall will push across the watch area by late
Monday afternoon and continue into early Tuesday morning.
Rainfall rates may exceed an inch per hour at times. Total
rainfall amounts will range from 2 to 2.5 inches in the watch
area... with the heaviest rainfall expected to occur late Monday
afternoon and Monday night. Higher amounts are possible where
heavy rain bands move across the same area.

* Flooding of urban... poor drainage and low lying areas is the
greatest threat. Smaller rivers and streams with fast response
times are also susceptible to flooding due to rapid runoff from
intense rainfall rates. Widespread main Stem river flooding
should remain in their banks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

advisory... which is in effect until 10 am EST Sunday.

* Location... south coastal Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

* Visibilities... one quarter mile or less at times.

* Timing... through Sunday morning.

* Impacts... hazardous travel due to low visibility.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow
down... use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of
you.

The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Storm
Warning... which is in effect from 1 PM Monday to 1 am EST
Tuesday. The storm watch is no longer in effect.

* Winds and seas... east winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50
kt. Seas 3 to 6 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Storm Warning means winds of 48 to 63 knots are imminent or
occurring. Recreational boaters should remain in port... or take
shelter until winds and waves subside. Commercial vessels should
prepare for very strong winds and dangerous sea conditions... and
consider remaining in port or taking shelter in port until winds
and waves subside.
