A brief period of sleet and freezing rain is possible during
Sunday morning.

Light precipitation mainly over New York and Pennsylvania may
extend east into parts of western and central Massachusetts and
northern Connecticut. Temperatures in these areas will start the
morning below freezing, then warm above freezing by midday. Any
precipitation after that time should be light rain. The areas most
at risk for sleet or freezing rain will be across the higher
terrain.

If you plan to travel in this area Sunday morning, allow extra
time and plan to travel more slowly than usual.

Sunday morning.

... Rain changing over to snow north of the Mass Pike...

As of 310 PM... rain had begun changing over to snow over
northern Massachusetts as colder air filters into the region.
Visibilities had dropped to one-half to one mile in some
locations in western Essex County. The transition from rain to
snow will be spreading southward through 5 PM toward the Mass
Pike.

A coating of snow on roadways is likely. Motorists are advised
to slow down and use extra caution.
