Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:44 AM EST Jan. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

* locations... much of interior Massachusetts.

* Hazard types... sleet changing to freezing rain.

* Accumulations... total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2
inches except 3 to 5 inches across far north central
Massachusetts. A trace to one tenth of an inch of ice accretion
is possible today, with one tenth to one quarter of an inch
possible across the high terrain of the Worcester Hills and east
slopes of the Berkshires.

* Timing... sleet will change to freezing rain in most locations by
mid morning. Temperatures may remain near or perhaps just below
freezing across portions of the region through the afternoon
particularly across high terrain. This may allow pockets of
freezing rain to persist into the afternoon and evening.

* Impacts... untreated roads and walkways will be slippery for the
morning rush hour. If temperatures remain at or below
freezing... untreated roads may remain icy into this evening with
a possible impact on the evening rush hour.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
