Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:15 AM CDT May. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* flood advisory for...
Anderson County in central Texas...

* until 515 am CDT.

* At 1209 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated off and on scattered
thunderstorms that were producing heavy rainfall across areas from
Frankston, to Palestine, to Elkhart. Localized, excessive runoff
from these thunderstorms will cause small stream flooding and
result in minor flooding of low lying or areas that usually
experience poor drainage. This means some low water crossings in
the region may become impassable. One to two inches of rain have
already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Palestine, Elkhart and Frankston.

Additional scattered rainfall in excess of an inch is expected over
the area. This additional rain may result in minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Minor flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know
where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can
become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid
streams or creeks.
