Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 8:13 AM CDT Jun. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Louisiana and southeast
Texas, including the following areas, in Louisiana, Acadia,
Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Calcasieu, East Cameron,
Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, lower St.
Martin, Rapides, St. Landry, St. Mary, upper St. Martin,
Vermilion, and West Cameron. In southeast Texas, Jefferson and
Orange.

* Until 7 PM CDT this evening

* areal rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected in the
watch area, with local amounts up to 6 inches possible. Intense
rainfall rates may overwhelm local drainage capacity.

* The flooding of roads, low lying areas, and areas with poor
drainage will be possible. If encountering flooded roadways,
remember to turn around, don't drown.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
