Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 7:32 AM CDT May. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast
Mississippi, including the following areas, in Alabama,
Baldwin central, Baldwin coastal, Baldwin inland, Butler,
Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Crenshaw, Escambia,
Mobile central, Mobile coastal, Mobile inland, Monroe,
Washington, and Wilcox. In northwest Florida, Escambia
coastal, Escambia inland, Okaloosa coastal, Okaloosa inland,
Santa Rosa coastal, and Santa Rosa inland. In southeast
Mississippi, George, Greene, Perry, stone, and Wayne.

* Through late tonight

* multiple rounds of heavy rain will continue to impact the entire
area through late tonight, with one round currently ongoing this
morning and another round expected late this evening and
overnight tonight. Rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches are expected
with locally higher amounts of 4 to 5 inches possible. This
additional rainfall will likely exacerbate the already saturated
ground across the region, which may lead to flash flooding.

* Urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas will be the most
susceptible to flash flooding. Road closures are possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
