Issued: 10:51 PM EST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 10 am EST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a dense fog
advisory, which is in effect until 10 am EST Tuesday.

* Visibility... one quarter of a mile or less at times.

* Impacts... limited visibilities will make travel hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Special Statement
Issued: 9:36 PM EST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Patchy dense fog developing across the region...

Widespread fog was observed across the region this evening. Many
locations were experiencing visibilities of 2 miles or less.
Patches of dense fog with visibilities below one-half mile was
also observed. Visibilities are expected to continue to decrease
through the early morning hours as low level moisture is trapped
beneath a surface based inversion. A dense fog advisory may be
needed overnight.

Motorists are urged to use caution while driving tonight. If
driving... slow down... use your low beam headlights... and leave
plenty of distance ahead of you. Visibilities should begin to
improve around mid-morning Tuesday.
