* at 1130 am EDT, emergency management and law enforcement officials
continued to report significant flooding across the greater
Triangle area and the central coastal plain resulting from
rainfall amounts of 6 to 8 inches since Monday afternoon. Water
levels on Crabtree creek have begun to fall, but many creeks and
streams will be very slow to recede this evening as flood waters
move down the Neuse River. Road closures will likely last at
least through this evening in many locations, and isolated areas
of flooding may last through Wednesday.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Rocky Mount, Chapel HIll, Goldsboro,
Tarboro, Smithfield, Hillsborough, Wilson and Nashville.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
