Issued: 11:58 AM CDT Apr. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch now in effect from Sunday morning through
Sunday evening...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of north Mississippi and west Tennessee, including
the following areas, in north Mississippi, Calhoun, Coahoma,
DeSoto, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Quitman, Tallahatchie,
Tate, Tunica, and Yalobusha. In west Tennessee, Crockett,
Dyer, Fayette, Haywood, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion, Shelby, and
Tipton.

* From Sunday morning through Sunday evening

* periods of heavy rain are forecast, with rainfall of 2 to 3
inches possible in as little as an hour. Localized storm total
amounts up to 4 inches possible.

* Recent rainfall has saturated soils across the watch area. Any
additional heavy rainfall may result in the potential for
flash flooding and subsequent river flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
