Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Watch
Issued: 2:53 AM EST Feb. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flood Watch remains in effect from this evening through Sunday
evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Maine and New Hampshire, including the following
areas, in Maine, Androscoggin, central and southern Somerset,
Kennebec, Franklin, and Oxford. In New Hampshire, Belknap,
Cheshire, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Carroll, Coos, Grafton, and
Sullivan.

* From this evening through Sunday evening.

* Exceptionally warm temperatures today and Saturday will
generate significant melting of snowpack. This melting will
result in rising levels on area rivers and streams.
Additionally, a strong cold front will move across the region
Saturday night producing locally heavy rainfall with up to an
inch possible in some locations.

* The primary flood threat will be ice jam flooding. The threat is
greatest in New Hampshire where temperatures will be warmest and
precipitation amounts will be highest.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
