Heat Advisory
Issued: 4:30 AM CDT Jul. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory is back in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has reissued the heat
advisory for all four state area parishes and counties which is
back in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* Event... hot and humid conditions will continue today with high
temperatures in the mid to possibly upper 90s. When combined
with the humidity, heat indices will be at or above 105
degrees.

* Timing... heat index readings of 105 degrees or greater can be
expected mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours.

* Impact... heat related illnesses may become possible for those
outdoors, especially when out in direct sunshine.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions to prepare your body for any sort of work
or play outside today. Consider rescheduling exercise and
strenuous activities before or after the hot afternoon readings.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke
such as the chills or a sudden lack of perspiration. Heat stroke
is an emergency, call 9 1 1.

A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected to continue for US. The heat and humidity combine to
create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible, because
cooling your body becomes more difficult when it is hot and muggy.
It is best to wear light weight and loose fitting clothing. Drink
plenty of fluids such as water before, during and after exposure
to the heat. When possible, seek an air-conditioned space or at
least the amount of time spent out of the sunshine. And remember
to check up on relatives, neighbors and pets.
