... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM EST this
afternoon...

Hazardous weather...

* more concentrated lake effect snow showers will impact portions
   of the warning area into this morning with the heaviest snow to
   occur between 4 am EST and 11 am EST. Drifting snow will cause
   slippery roads with brief instances of blowing snow possible.

* Snow accumulations may vary greatly from location to location
   depending on the duration any lake effect band remains in
   place. Additional accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected
   where the bands remain the longest with locally higher amounts
   possible.

* Wind chills 10 above to 15 above zero.

Impacts...

* blowing and drifting snow will cause hazardous driving
   conditions on snow covered and slippery roads especially from
   late this evening through Friday morning.

* Significantly reduced visibilities are expected in the
   heavier snow showers.

* The Friday morning commute will likely be adversely affected
   by lake effect snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for warning for lake effect snow and
drifting snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected
or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will
make travel dangerous. If you must travel... keep an extra
flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.

... A snow squall will affect northeastern St. Joseph... northern
Elkhart... southwestern LaGrange... east central Berrien and
southwestern Cass counties...

At 643 am EST, a snow squall was located along a line extending from
near Fair Plain to Simonton Lake. Movement was southeast at 20 mph.
Visibility lowering briefly to a quarter mile and up to an inch of
snow in an hour are possible as this band of snow moves through the
area.

Locations impacted include...
Elkhart, Goshen, Niles, St. Joseph, Dowagiac, Simonton Lake, Fair
Plain, Dunlap, Granger, Middlebury, Berrien Springs, Cassopolis,
Bristol, Edwardsburg, Union, Pokagon, Sodus, Shoreham, Eau Claire and
Juno Lake.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Indiana between mile markers 82 and 104.
Interstate 94 in Michigan between mile markers 25 and 30.
