Watches & Warnings

Heat Advisory
Issued: 3:36 AM PDT Jun. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat advisory remains in effect from noon today to 9 PM PDT
Sunday...

* temperature... highs in the upper 80s to mid 90s today and in the
90s Sunday. Lows will fall into the 50s to around 60, except
lower to mid 60s in the warmer Metro areas.

* Timing... today through Sunday.

* Impacts... the elderly, youth, and those in poor health without
air conditioning will be particularly vulnerable to the heat.
Please plan and dress appropriately if you intend to attend
any of the community outdoor events that are occurring this
weekend; many are scheduled to occur during the heat of the
day.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Never leave children, pets, or the elderly unattended in a parked
vehicle under any circumstances. This is especially true during
warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Drownings tend to occur during hot spells in western Washington.
Area rivers and lakes can be dangerously cold for swimming this
time of year. Most rivers are running high and swift due to
Spring snowmelt. Hypothermia and drowning due to cold water shock
can occur in area waters this time of year.
