Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Watch
Issued: 9:22 PM EDT Jul. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 3 am EDT Monday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Maryland and the District of Columbia, including
the following areas, in Maryland, Anne Arundel, Carroll,
central and southeast Howard, central and southeast
Montgomery, Frederick MD, northern Baltimore, northwest
Harford, northwest Howard, northwest Montgomery, Prince
Georges, southeast Harford, and southern Baltimore. The
District of Columbia.

* Until 3 am EDT Monday

* numerous rounds of heavy rain have affected the Baltimore-
Washington metropolitan area this weekend. Additional showers
and thunderstorms are expected to develop this evening... and
continue into the overnight hours.

* Heavy rainfall on saturated soil may result in rapid rises of
water. This could quickly result in flooding... especially in low
lying and poor drainage areas. In addition... any showers or
thunderstorms north of Baltimore would reaggravate flooding
from late this afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
