... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM MDT this evening...

* location... northwest plateau; chuska and the Sandia/Manzano
mountains; northwest and far northwest highlands; lower Chama
river valley; Santa Fe and Albuquerque Metro areas and Quay and
Chaves counties.

* Timing... through early evening.

* Temperatures... highs around 105 degrees.

* Local impacts... very hot temperatures with low relative
humidity will increase the risk for dehydration and heat
related illnesses. Limit your exposure to the sun and shift
timing of outdoor activities to the morning and late evening
hours. Pets and livestock will also be impacted by these very
hot temperatures.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
