... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am akst
Tuesday...

* location... higher elevations of The Klondike Highway including
White Pass.

* Snow... storm total of 12 to 18 inches.

* Wind... 25 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph.

* Visibility... near zero at times with white out blizzard
conditions in blowing snow.

* Timing... snow will be heavy at times through Monday afternoon
before diminishing late Monday night. Blowing snow will
increase in intensity through the day and persist through early
Tuesday morning.

* Impacts... travel will be dangerous in white-out conditions in
very low visibility. Significant drifting will occur across The
Klondike Highway. Heavy snow will be difficult to manage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A warning means that a winter storm is already occurring or
imminent. This storm could pose a threat to life and property.

conditions warrant.




High Wind Warning
Issued: 8:48 AM AKST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning remains in effect from noon today to
midnight akst tonight...

* location... near Skagway and the lower elevations of The
Klondike Highway.

* Winds... southwest winds of 30 to 45 mph with gusts around 60
mph.

* Timing... winds will increase mid-day Monday and persist
through midnight Monday night before diminishing overnight.

* Impacts... downed trees and limbs may result in power failures.
Air travel will be impaired.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

conditions warrant.
