Special Statement
Issued: 6:17 AM AKST Dec. 13, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Warm conditions continue over the interior through Thursday...

Temperatures have risen into the 30s over much of the eastern
interior this morning. Healy, Nenana, and Eielson Air Force Base
have all risen into the lower 40s.

These warm temperatures are the result of continued southerly
Chinook winds blowing across the Alaska Range. These Chinook
winds will cause winds as strong as 70 mph along the Alaska Range
through this evening.

The Chinook winds will drop off after midnight tonight. There
will be a slight chance of freezing rain over the eastern interior
tonight and Thursday. Temperatures will cool Thursday into
Friday, but another strong Chinook is possible Saturday.
