... Winter Storm Watch now in effect from Tuesday morning through
late Wednesday night...

* locations... Republic, Inchelium, Wauconda, Chesaw Road,
Highway 20 Wauconda Summit, Boulder Creek Road, Sherman Pass,
Sandpoint, Bonners Ferry, Priest River, Eastport, schweitzer
Mountain Road, Wenatchee, Chelan, Entiat, Cashmere,
Leavenworth, Mazama, Twisp, Winthrop, Stehekin, Conconully,
Blewett Pass, Loup Loup pass, Omak, Okanogan, Brewster,
Bridgeport, Oroville, Nespelem, Disautel pass, Waterville,
Mansfield, Badger Mountain Road, Grand Coulee, Odessa, Wilbur,
Coulee City, Moses Lake, Ephrata, Othello, Quincy, Colville,
Deer Park, Chewelah, Newport, Kettle Falls, Springdale-hunters
Road, Orin-Rice Road, and flowery trail Road.

* Ice accumulations... widespread ice accumulations between
0.20-0.50" possible in the Cascade east slopes south of Lake
Chelan, Wenatchee area, Waterville Plateau , and into the
western basin including Moses Lake to Grand Coulee. Possible ice
accumulations up to 0.25" in the northern valleys.

* Timing... slower than previous expected. Light wintry starts
Tuesday morning. There will be a brief break Tuesday afternoon
which could feature occasional freezing drizzle. Then moderate
wintry precipitation intensities expected Tuesday evening into
Wednesday.

* Impacts... significant ice accumulations will create treacherous
travel conditions, tree damage, and power outages. Areas with
less freezing rain and more snow and sleet will see significant
impacts to travel but a lower threat for power outages.

* Temperatures... in the teens and twenties to start... warming
toward the 30s Wednesday.

* Snow accumulations... valleys north of Lake Chelan and Highway 20
will have the potential for 4 to 8... with locally higher amounts
in the mountains. Snow amounts highly dependent on which
precipitation type occurs.

* Snow level... near valley floors rising to 2500-4000 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
ice... snow... and sleet accumulations that may impact travel.

Air Stagnation Advisory
Issued: 9:36 AM MST Jan. 16, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Air stagnation advisory now in effect until 10 am PST /11 am
MST/ Tuesday...

* advisory... a ridge of high pressure will persist over eastern
Washington and north Idaho through early Tuesday. This will
result in very light winds and poor atmospheric mixing. This
will likely lead to increased pollution levels near the
ground and deteriorated air quality.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An air stagnation advisory indicates that due to limited movement
of an airmass across the advisory area... pollution has the
potential to increase to dangerous levels. Persons with
respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for
dealing with high levels of air pollution.
