Flood Warning
Issued: 10:15 PM PST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Truckee River near Truckee.
* From Saturday morning to Saturday evening... or until the warning is
cancelled.
* At 9:30 PM Friday the stage was 1.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 4.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late Saturday morning and
continue to rise to near 5.9 feet by Saturday afternoon.The river
will fall below flood stage by Saturday evening.
* Impact... at 6.0 feet... moderate flooding from Bear Creek in the
Alpine Meadows area to Truckee... about 4200 cfs. Flooding of yards
and basements of low-lying homes along river... some private bridges
impacted. USGS estimates this much flow has about a 1 in 9 chance
of being exceeded any year.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 6.4 feet
on December 20 1981.
