Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 9:18 PM PDT Jun. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 9 PM PDT
Sunday...

* temperatures... 105-110 degrees.

* Impacts... the very high temperatures will create a dangerous
situation in which there is an increased threat of heat related
illnesses. Temperatures inside vehicles, even if the windows are
partially open, can quickly rise to life-threatening levels.
The extended heat wave will also bring elevated fire weather
conditions through the weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Never, ever, leave people or pets in enclosed vehicles, even for
a short period of time.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.

To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and
health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by
heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke
is an emergency - call 911.
