... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of southwest California... including the following
areas... Coachella Valley... San Diego County coastal areas...
San Diego County deserts... San Diego County mountains and San
Diego County valleys.

* Through this evening

* soils are nearly saturated from recent heavy rainfall. Periods
of showers will continue through this evening with brief heavy
rainfall. Bands of showers... stronger showers with heavier
rainfall... and isolated thunderstorms have greater potential to
cause Urban and Small Stream flooding and isolated flash
flooding. Heavy rainfall over recent burn scars could result in
debris flows and mud slides.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Beach Hazard Statement, High Surf Warning

... Beach hazards statement in effect until 7 PM PST this
evening...
... High surf warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a beach
hazards statement for potential lightning at the beaches... which
is in effect until 7 PM PST this evening.

* Surf... 6 to 10 feet with sets to 13 ft through Tuesday.
Highest surf south of Carlsbad.

* Changes since last issuance... beach hazards statement issued for
potential lightning at the beaches.

* Timing for lightning... thunderstorms will be possible at the
beaches this morning through at least early evening.
Thunderstorms in this weather pattern can develop at a moments
notice.

* Tides... 5.4 ft at 634 am Tuesday.

* Impacts... deadly cloud-to-water and cloud-to-ground lightning.
Minor coastal flooding and beach erosion. Damage possible to
coastal structures such as piers. Strong rip currents and
dangerous swimming conditions. Large waves can easily wash
people off jetties and rocks.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf warning indicates that dangerous... battering waves
will affect the shoreline. This will result in very dangerous
swimming conditions... and deadly rip currents.

A beach hazards statement for beach lightning means that there is
the potential for cloud to ground or cloud to water lightning
strikes which could result in injury or death. Move indoors until
the storm passes and stay away from metal objects.
