Watches & Warnings

High Wind Warning
Issued: 10:34 AM MST Feb. 23, 2017 – National Weather Service

... High Wind Warning in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a High
Wind Warning, which is in effect until 5 PM MST this afternoon.
The Wind Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Location... high elevations of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in
New Mexico.

* Winds... west 30 to 40 mph with occasional gusts from 50 to 60
mph.

* Timing... winds will remain strong to severe through the
afternoon, before weakening some at sunset. Winds will still
likely be gusty overnight, but not as severe.

* Visibility... locally reduced in some areas of blowing snow.

* Local impacts... very strong cross winds will make driving
hazardous on north to south oriented roads. Unsecured objects
may become airborne, and lightweight structures may topple.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember, a High Wind Warning means damaging winds are imminent
or highly likely. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or
gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
