A tropical disturbance pushing toward the Bahamas, is expected to develop into a tropical depression or storm, and will likely target Florida and the Gulf Coast this weekend into next week.

Right now, the disturbance remains a broad area of low pressure pushing through the Dominican Republic and Haiti, headed toward the southeast Bahamas. Rainfall totals over 3 inches (with locally higher amounts) are expected in HispaƱiola, particularly over elevated terrain.

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:14 PM MDT Aug. 25, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
southeastern Bernalillo County in central New Mexico...
northwestern Torrance County in central New Mexico...

* until 515 PM MDT

* at 309 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms developing repeatedly over
portions of the Dog Head burn scar. Up to one half inch of rain
has already fallen... mainly within the chinchonte drainage. More
heavy rainfall is likely through 4 PM.

* Locations impacted include...
State Highway 337.

This will impact the Dog Head fire burn scar including but not
limited to La Jara Canyon... La Jara Road... Arroyo de Chilili...
aceves Road... Arroyo chinchonte... Manzano morning and Twin Peaks
drive... and Highway 337.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings.
Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may
travel many miles and take hours to reach
your location from upstream rain areas.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
