... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM MST Sunday...

* impacts... unusually hot temperatures could result in heat
related illness for hikers and those who are exposed to the
heat for prolonged periods of time, even at higher elevations
as high as 7000 feet.

* Affected areas... higher Elevation Mountain ranges surrounding
Tucson and points east, including Mt. Lemmon, Summerhaven,
Madera Canyon, Chiricahua National Monument and Bisbee.

* Temperatures... afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s as high
as 7000 feet.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A heat advisory means that a period of unusually hot temperatures
is expected. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible... reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat
exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting
clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.

The occupational safety and health administration recommends
these additional steps to reduce risk during outdoor work...
schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool
and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency... call 911.

... High pollution advisory for Maricopa County including the greater
Phoenix area and Pinal County Friday...

The Arizona department of environmental quality in Phoenix has issued
an ozone high pollution advisory for the greater Phoenix area for
Friday. The Pinal County department of air quality has issued an
ozone high pollution advisory for Pinal County including Apache
Junction, Casa Grande, Coolidge, and Florence for Friday.

This means that forecast weather conditions combined with existing
ozone levels are expected to result in local maximum 8-hour ozone
concentrations that pose a health risk. Adverse health effects
increase as air quality deteriorates.

Ozone is an air contaminant which can cause breathing difficulties
for children as well as persons with respiratory problems. A decrease
in physical activity is recommended.

If it is a regularly scheduled work day, you are urged to car pool,
telecommute or use mass transit.

The use of gasoline-powered equipment should be reduced or done late
in the day.
