Flood Warning
Issued: 11:37 AM MDT Mar. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Portneuf River at Pocatello.
* At 11:15 am Sunday the stage was 9.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 10.2 feet by
Friday evening. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... significant flooding of agricultual land
will occur from the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding will
occur along sections of the river in Pocatello from portnuef gap to
the Cheyenne Avenue bridge and downstream of the Concrete channel
beginning at Sacajawea Park.

Issued: 1:00 PM MDT Mar. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
west central Caribou County in southeastern Idaho...
eastern Bannock County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 215 PM MDT Sunday

* emergency management reported high water levels and minor flooding
in the Chesterfield to pebble area. The Portneuf River and King
Creek are at full capacity, with some water spilling over into
neighboring fields. At this time, roads and homes are not
affected. However, rivers, creeks, and streams in the advisory
area will continue to run at or just above bankfull, and minor
flooding is expected to continue in low lying areas especially
with additional rainfall expected through the weekend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
