Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:42 PM MDT Jul. 25, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect until
945 PM MDT for southwestern Fremont... northwestern Custer and
northeastern Saguache counties...

At 740 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated areas of locally heavy rain
due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding in the advisory area.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
the Hayden Pass burn scar, Howard, Coaldale, Cotopaxi, Villa Grove
and hillside.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos will be possible. The heavy
rains will be capable of triggering Rockslides, mudslides and debris
flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
