Winter Storm Warning
Issued: 1:32 AM MST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning in effect until noon MST today...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for snow and blowing snow, which is in effect until noon
MST today. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Timing... snow... heavy at times... will continue through mid
morning. The snow will then begin to decrease by the noon hour
and continue to gradually diminish through the afternoon.

* Snow accumulations... 7 to 14 inches.

* Wind/visibility... west winds 25 to 35 mph near and above
timberline... with gusts to 60 mph or more over the high passes.
Visibility will be reduced to just a couple hundred feet at
times over the higher passes... and below one half mile at times
in lower elevations.

* Impacts... snow and blowing snow will produce hazardous and slow
travel conditions across the mountains. The worst travel
conditions can be expected through this morning, then there
should be slow improvement by afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. If you must
travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
