Blizzard Warning
Issued: 4:05 AM MDT Mar. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Blizzard Warning remains in effect until noon MDT today...

* location... northern El Paso County including Monument and
Black Forest.

* Cause and timing... an intense storm over southeast Colorado this
morning will move slowly into Kansas this afternoon.

* Snow accumulation... 8 to 10 inches with deeper drifts.

* Wind... north 35 to 45 gusting to 65 mph resulting in heavy
blowing and drifting snow and near zero visibilities.

* Impact... conditions will be hazardous due to heavy, blowing
and drifting snow and whiteout countdowns. Snow covered roads
and near zero visibilities will make travel difficult to
impossible. Strong winds and heavy, blowing snow may result in
power outages and tree damage.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor
visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions,
making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel. If you must
travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded,
stay with your vehicle.
