Special Statement
Issued: 5:18 AM CDT Jun. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Heat index values between 105 to 110 degrees across deep south
Texas today...

The strong ridge of high pressure will continue over deep south
Texas on Thursday with high temperatures ranging from the 90s near
the coast to near 108 degrees across the western ranchlands and
upper rgv. The hot temperatures, combined with some humid air,
will produce heat index, or feels like temperatures, between 105
and 110 for a few hours across the region this afternoon.

Residents planning outdoor activities should drink plenty of
water, wear light weight and light colored clothing, and take
frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets should
never be left unattended in vehicles, but this is especially true
during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
temperatures in a matter of minutes.
