* event... strong south winds between 20 and 30 mph. Gusts over 30
mph.

* Timing... through this evening.

* Impact... unsecured light weight items could be tossed about by
strong winds. Drivers on east west oriented roads should
prepare for strong cross winds and drivers of high profile
vehicles should be particularly cautious.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Drivers of vans... campers... trailers... and other high-profile
vehicles should be alert to the danger of these winds...
especially when driving along east to west oriented roads

... Strong thunderstorms across northwestern Austin... southeastern
Burleson... southwestern Grimes... Washington and south central Brazos
counties through 645 PM CDT...

At 554 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Round Top, or 12 miles southeast of Giddings, moving northeast at 35
mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Brenham, Washington, Shelby, Somerville, Burton, Lake Somerville dam,
Independence and Quarry.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If on or near lake Somerville, get out of the water and move indoors
or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
