Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 9:29 AM CST Jan. 18, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for...
Robertson County in central Texas...
Freestone County in central Texas...
Milam County in central Texas...
Leon County in central Texas...
Henderson County in central Texas...
Limestone County in central Texas...
southeastern Falls County in central Texas...
Anderson County in central Texas...
Navarro County in north central Texas...

* until 1230 PM CST

* at 924 am CST, Doppler radar indicated showers with embedded
thunderstorms that were producing localized moderate to heavy
rainfall across areas generally southeast of a Cameron, to Mexia,
to Corsicana and Athens line . Excessive runoff due to saturated
and cold soil will likely cause street flooding, as well as small
stream flooding. Areas that are low lying or usually experience
poor drainage are most likely to experience minor flooding. Low
water crossings in the region may become flooded. Up to one inch
of rain has already fallen across particularly parts of Milam,
Limestone, and Freestone counties.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Corsicana, Palestine, Athens, Mexia, Gun Barrel City, Rockdale,
Cameron, Hearne, Groesbeck, Teague, Fairfield, Mabank, Chandler,
Malakoff, tool, Mart, Buffalo, Kerens, Franklin and Seven Points.

Additional rainfall of up to an inch is expected over the area and
would likely result in localized minor flooding across parts of the
advisory area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
