Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 3:26 PM CDT Aug. 26, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
northwestern Anderson County in central Texas...
northeastern Freestone County in central Texas...

* until 630 PM CDT

* at 324 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms that were
producing heavy rainfall across northeastern Freestone and
northwestern Anderson counties. Excessive runoff from these
thunderstorms will cause small stream flooding. Areas that are low
lying or usually experience poor drainage are most likely to
experience flooding. This means some low water crossings in the
region may become impassable. One to two inches of rain have
already fallen... and an additional one to two inches of rain will
be possible.

* Flooding may impact the communities of Cayuga and Tennessee
Colony... .along Highway 287.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
