Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 7:06 AM CDT Aug. 17, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth has issued a

* flood advisory for...
Kaufman County in north central Texas...
Dallas County in north central Texas...

* until 1000 am CDT.

* At 704 am CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms that were
producing heavy rainfall across northern Kaufman and Dallas
counties. Excessive runoff from these thunderstorms will cause
urban and small stream flooding. Areas that are low lying or
usually experience poor drainage are most likely to experience
flooding. This means some low water crossings in the region may
become impassable and some street flooding may occur. Street
flooding has already been reported in Terrell. Up to one inch of
rain has already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dallas, Garland, Mesquite, Carrollton, Richardson, Rowlett, DeSoto,
Cedar Hill, Wylie, Duncanville, Lancaster, Farmers Branch, Balch
Springs, University Park, Sachse, Terrell, Seagoville, Forney,
Addison and Glenn Heights.

Additional rainfall of one inch are possible over the area. This
additional rain will make minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
