for central Thomas County...

At 1159 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 10 miles north of Colby to 4 miles west of Monument,
moving east at 35 mph.

Hazard... Golf Ball size hail and 70 mph wind gusts.

Source... radar indicated.

Impact... people and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail
         damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect
         considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to
         Mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
Colby, Levant and Mingo.

This includes Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 47 and 68.

extending from 8 miles northwest of Gem to 3 miles northwest of
Monument, moving east at 30 mph.

* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern Cheyenne County in northwestern Kansas...
northwestern Thomas County in northwestern Kansas...
southwestern Rawlins County in northwestern Kansas...
northeastern Sherman County in northwestern Kansas...

* until 145 am MDT/245 am CDT/

* at 1042 PM MDT/1142 PM CDT/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to three inches of
rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Brewster and Levant.

Additional rainfall amounts up to two inches are possible in the
warned area.

This includes Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 38 and 53.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
