The Flood Warning continues for
the Arkansas River at Arkansas City.
* From this evening until late Saturday night.
* At 9:00 PM Wednesday the stage was 10.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 12.6 feet by Friday morning. The river will fall below
flood stage by Saturday afternoon.
* Impact... at 11.0 feet... flooding of agricultural lands can be
expected with bank overflows on west side of River. West Chestnut
Avenue west of the river floods.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Walnut river near Arkansas City.
* From Thursday evening until Friday evening.
* At 9:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 12.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by late Thursday evening and
continue to rise to near 18.1 feet by early Friday morning. The
river will fall below flood stage by late Friday morning.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... considerable flooding of farmland can be
expected. There is considerable flooding upstream along the West
Bank of the Walnut river. On the East Bank, the ground slopes
upward so that only about a 300 foot wide strip of land would be
affected.

the Walnut river at Winfield.
* From Thursday afternoon until Saturday morning.
* At 9:30 PM Wednesday the stage was 15.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by early Thursday afternoon and
continue to rise to near 19.5 feet by Friday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Friday before midnight.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet... flood waters flow over County Road Cowley 2
west of rock. Then 4 miles northwest of Winfield, Cowley County
Road 18 floods over a section just west of 71st Road.
