A tropical disturbance pushing toward the Bahamas, is expected to develop into a tropical depression or storm, and will likely target Florida and the Gulf Coast this weekend into next week.

Right now, the disturbance remains a broad area of low pressure pushing through the Dominican Republic and Haiti, headed toward the southeast Bahamas. Rainfall totals over 3 inches (with locally higher amounts) are expected in HispaƱiola, particularly over elevated terrain.

Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of east central Kansas and
northeast Kansas... including the following areas... in east
central Kansas... Anderson... Coffey... Douglas... Franklin...
Lyon... Morris... Osage... Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In northeast
Kansas... Jefferson.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Friday morning

* scattered thunderstorms are expected tonight across east central
Kansas with more widespread thunderstorms overnight into Friday
morning. Some of these locations already received 1 to 2 inches
of rain Wednesday night and an additional 1 to 2 inches of
rainfall will be possible tonight. This additional rain could
result in flash flooding.
