Freezing Fog Advisory
Issued: 3:56 AM CST Dec. 5, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Freezing fog advisory in effect until 9 am CST this morning...

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a freezing
fog advisory... which is in effect until 9 am CST this morning.

* Timing... areas of dense fog and freezing fog are expected
through 9 am.

* Visibility... visibility will vary considerably over short
distances and will frequently be reduced to less than a quarter
mile.

* Impacts... reduced visibility will make driving difficult through
the morning commute. Additionally... temperatures at or below
freezing will cause the fog to freeze on exposed surfaces. This
may result in slick spots on some bridges and overpasses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A freezing fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
Also... be alert for frost on bridge decks causing slippery roads.
