The Flood Warning continues for
the Mississippi River at Chester
* until further notice.
* At 10:30 PM Sunday the stage was 34.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 27.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* The river is forecast to crest near 43.5 feet by early Friday
morning.
* Impact: at 44.0 feet... balwin water treatment plant is flooded.
* Impact: at 42.4 feet... near this height, Missouri Route h is closed
between Route M and Missouri Highway 51.
* Impact: at 42.3 feet... near this height, Missouri State Route u
will be closed in both directions from U.S. Highway 61 to the
Illinois state line at the Kaskaskia Island bridge.
* Impact: at 42.0 feet... four Cottage units at the Menard
correctional center begin flooding near this height.
* Impact: at 41.1 feet... near this height, Missouri Route v southeast
of Bloomsdale is closed between Highway 61 and north White Sands
Road.
* Impact: at 40.8 feet... Main Street in Evansville inundated.
* Impact: at 40.7 feet... at this height, Missouri State Highway 51 is
closed from Perry County Road 944 and the Illinois state line at
the bridge into Chester.
* Impact: at 40.0 feet... a Hunting Lodge near the mouth of the
Kaskaskia River begins flooding.
* Impact: at 39.0 feet... Railroad tracks in St. Mary, Missouri begin
flooding.
* Impact: at 38.7 feet... Illinois State Highway 155 at Prairie Du
Rocher begins flooding near this height.
* Impact: at 38.5 feet... Illinois Route 3 at Rockwood and Missouri
Highway j just west of Highway 61 between Ste. Genevieve and St.
Marys begin flooding near this height.

Cora inundated.

mary's River Bridge is closed.

Route h and Perry County Road 924 is closed.
* Impact: at 37.5 feet... the southbound Lane on Kaskaskia street and
the south parking lot at Menard correctional center begins
flooding.
* Impact: at 37.2 feet... near this height, U.S. Highway 61 is closed
between Ste. Genevieve and Route j.
* Impact: at 37.0 feet... Union Pacific property along Water Street
begins to flood.
* Impact: at 36.9 feet... near this height, U.S. Highway 61 is closed
from Route j to St. Mary.
* Impact: at 36.5 feet... Chester water Intake house is flooded...
damage begins to occur to 4 homes and administration buildings at
Menard state prison. Prairie durocher pump station damaged and
Road to Kaskaskia lock inundated.
* Impact: at 36.0 feet... Chester water works pumphouse is threatened
by flood waters. Highway 61 is closed at The Bend at St. Marys and
a DeTour is set up through town.
* Impact: at 35.2 feet... in Perry County, Highway c is closed between
County roads 352 and 354 (the levee road) near Menfro.
* Impact: at 35.0 feet... Ste. Genevieve flood gates are closed at
this level.
* Impact: at 34.8 feet... Kaskaskia street near the Menard prison
begins flooding near this height.
* Impact: at 34.7 feet... the north parking lot at Menard correctional
center begins flooding.

The Flood Warning continues for the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau
* until further notice.
* At 8 PM Sunday the stage was 37.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 32.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... major flood conditions will develop Tuesday evening.
The river will crest near 48.5 feet Saturday, may 6th. The record
crest at Cape Girardeau, MO is 48.86 feet set on January 2nd, 2016.

* until further notice.
* At PM Sunday the stage was 31.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... major flooding will begin late Tuesday with a crest near
39.5 feet expected Thursday.

* until 545 am CDT Monday

* at 538 PM CDT, flooding continued in many areas. The threat for
heavy rainfall is over. However, flooding along rivers, creeks
and streams will continue, along with numerous water covered,
flooded roads. The dangers will increase tonight as the dangers
of flooding become harder to recognize.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Carbondale, Marion, Mount Vernon, Herrin, Harrisburg, West
Frankfort, Murphysboro, Mount Carmel, Benton, Du Quoin,
Pinckneyville, Carterville, Carmi, Fairfield, Eldorado, Johnston
City, McLeansboro, Christopher, Albion and Rend Lake area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.

* until 530 am CDT Monday

* at 528 PM CDT, flooding continued in many areas. The threat
for additional heavy rain is over. However, many creeks, streams
and rivers remain flooded. Many roads, and low lying areas are
affected as well. Improvement may happen in some areas, but many
locations will remain flooded overnight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.
