Issued: 6:06 PM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT
Saturday for southeastern Winnebago... southern Boone and southwestern
McHenry counties...

At 600 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Radar rainfall estimates indicate
that between three and four inches of rain has fallen over portions
of the warned area... particularly within the area along the
Interstate 90 corridor from Cherry Valley to Rockford. Rainfall was
decreasing across the warning area as of 6 PM CDT... though
additional showers and thunderstorms are likely this evening.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rockford... Belvidere... Marengo... Rockford Airport... Cherry
Valley... Davis Junction and new Millford.

Including the following interstates...
I-39 between mile markers 115 and 123.
I-90 between mile markers 42 and 64.

This includes... Boone County Fairgrounds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around... dont drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
east central Winnebago County in north central Illinois...
Boone County in north central Illinois...
northwestern McHenry County in northeastern Illinois...

* until 700 PM CDT

* at 353 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Up to three inches of rain has already fallen in
northern Boone County. This will cause minor flooding in the
advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rockford... Belvidere... Loves Park... Harvard... Poplar Grove... Cherry
Valley... Capron... Timberlane and Caledonia.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff fromheavy rainfall will also cause flooding of
small creeks andstreams... as well as farm and country roads. The
excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will also cause ponding of
water in urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.
