Watches & Warnings

Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 2:28 AM CDT Jun. 29, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Winnebago County in north central Illinois...
Boone County in north central Illinois...

* until 1130 am CDT Thursday

* early this morning, emergency management continued to report
widespread flooding across Winnebago and Boone counties, including
in parts of Rockford and Belvidere. Many roads were still
impassable, including near Kent creek in Rockford. Other cities
with some impassable residential roads include Belvidere, Loves
Park, Machesney Park, and Pecatonica. There are several rural
roads too that had been reported flooded. While the rest of the
morning is expected to remain mainly dry, the water will be slow
to subside and some flooded roadways will be a concern during the
Thursday morning commute.

* Some locations that likely have flooding include...
South Beloit, Rockton, Roscoe, Poplar Grove, Cherry Valley,
Winnebago, Durand, Capron, Timberlane, Caledonia, Lake Summerset,
Davis Junction and new Millford.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
