Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 12:55 PM CDT Jul. 28, 2016 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
central DuPage County in northeastern Illinois...
northwestern Cook County in northeastern Illinois...

* until 300 PM CDT

* at 1254 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Urban and Small Stream flooding in
the advisory area. One to two inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Naperville... Arlington Heights... Schaumburg... Des Plaines... Mount
Prospect... Wheaton... Hoffman Estates... Downers Grove... Elmhurst...
Lombard... Carol Stream... Addison... Glen Ellyn... Westmont... Rolling
Meadows... Roselle... Lisle... Villa Park... Hinsdale and Oak Brook.

Additional rainfall of up to 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will make minor flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in
urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other
poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel
across flooded roads. Find alternate routes.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
