Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 10:08 PM CDT Jun. 28, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The flood advisory remains in effect until 1115 PM CDT for
southeastern St. Louis... northeastern Carlton and northwestern
Douglas counties...

At 949 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
that moderate to heavy rain has falled over the advisory area.
Rainfall amounts of an inch to an inch and a half have been
estimated by radar over portions of Hermantown and Munger. The rain
gages at the Duluth Airport reported three quarters of an inch of
rainfall in the last 3 hours. This rainfall will cause minor
flooding in the advisory area.

River gages on the Nemadji river in eastern Cloquet County and
Douglas County indicate it is rising quickly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Hermantown, Proctor, Scanlon, Carlton,
Mahtowa, Barnum, Wrenshall, Oliver, Thomson, Wisconsin Point, Arnold,
Irving, Pleasant Valley, Cody, Park point, Billings Park, and Gary
New Duluth.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
