Issued: 7:48 AM CDT Jul. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 900 am CDT for
southwestern Juneau... Vernon... Richland and northeastern Crawford
counties...

At 743 am CDT, local law enforcement in richand County reported that
the Pine River is out of its banks, sandbagging was occurring near
Yuba, and State Highway 80 is closed at County Road d. Elsewhere,
numerous roads remain closed, with the Ontario to La Farge area
particularly hard hit because of major flooding on the Kickapoo
river. The flooding is a result of 3 to 7 inches of rain that fell
overnight.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Richland Center, Viroqua, Westby, Elroy, Hillsboro, Wonewoc,
Stoddard, Coon Valley, La Farge, Clayton, Brownsville, Germantown,
Newton, Springville, Rockbridge, Viola, Ithaca, Soldiers Grove,
Sylvan and Ontario.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

... Forecast flooding increased from minor to major severity...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Kickapoo river at Viola.
* At 5:06 am Thursday the stage was 14.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 20.5 feet by
Friday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
morning.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet... water reaches the underside of the bridge,
and the bridge begins to act as a dam holding back water.

the Kickapoo river at La Farge.
* From this morning to Saturday morning.
* At 5:15 am Thursday the stage was 12.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 15.0 feet by
today. The river will fall below flood stage Friday.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet... there is significant flooding in and around
La Farge.
